dealing with seasonal sadness

In the States it’s that time of year when the water gets too cold for swimming, the sun sets earlier and the summer fruit goes out of season, not to mention the start of the new school year 😒. As an Australian on the other side of the world, we have been freezing for the past couple of months so this makes me feel qualified to give some advice on how to make the most of the colder months of 2023! ❄️☃️

1. Surround yourself with love💗- Nothing warms the heart like spending the holidays snuggled up to someone you care about, whether that’s your mum, dad, siblings, friends, or partner. Put on a movie grab a cup of hot cocoa and finish the day with someone you love.

2. New wardrobe 🛍-
What better time to upgrade your wardrobe than for this upcoming season? Take a trip down to the mall or do some online shopping to get yourself that perfect Pinterest winter wardrobe, you deserve it. Shopping is also a great way to raise dopamine levels which is the part of your brain that makes you happy! So what are you waiting for? Shop ‘till you drop girl! 👛

3. Take advantage of the snow! ☃️-
If you are in an area where it snows, lucky you! Get some warm snow clothes on and take advantage of it! There are so many things to do, like building snowwomen, making snow angels, and taking cute pics for Insta. If you don’t want Jack Frost to nip at your nose you can watch the snowfall from the comfort of your own home with the heater on full blast! ❄️

4. Watch some winter weather movies🍿-
There are so many movies and shows with that wintery aesthetic, especially Christmas movies… here are a few of my favorites! 🎥
- Harry Potter series
- Elf
- Gilmore Girls
- Christmas Vacation
- Gossip Girl
- Coraline
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are just around the bend, who says wait until December to celebrate the holidays with some fun winter weather films? 🎞

5. Make some delish snacks 🥨- OMG don’t even get me starrrrttteddd on the perfect recipes all over my TikTok and Pinterest here are some fun recipes you and your friends and family will lovvvvveee this season 🍪
- Caramel brownies - dessertfortwo.com
- Cinnamon rolls- Bromabakery.com
- Whipped hot chocolate- boulderlocavore.com
- Chocolate chip cookies- kitchenwitchtingss.tumblr.com
- It’s not Christmas without a gingerbread house!- sugarandcharm.com

6. Decorate for the holidays🎄- Whatever holidays you celebrate decorating is always fun, I love putting up my Christmas tree and hanging the wreath on the door in November just after I take my Halloween decorations down. Whatever holidays you celebrate decorating your home is a fun yearly ritual to spend with your family and friends to welcome the holiday season ❤️

7. When all else fails, romanticize! 💕- Sometimes the cold weather can really bring you down and all you feel like you can do is wait for summer to come back around. When I feel like this I use my imagination (and Pinterest) to make my situation seem desirable. It's too cold to go out with your friends, easy fix, invite your girlfriends to your house and do some baking and watch a movie, and to make it seem even more fun take some adorable photos to look back at to remember the fun you can have during winter! ❄️💗

If you made it to this point in my blog post thank you so much for reading and I would loovveee to see if you guys do any of these tips these coming months. Stay safe these holidays, love y’all 💕❄️🌷
