Protecting your peace sounds so cliche, especially now when we hear the term floating around the media so often. But what actually is protecting your peace, and how can you do it?
Protecting your peace is the simple act of attempting to achieve a life void of chaos, complication, heartbreak, or other negativity caused by those around you. Of course, these aspects of life are inevitable, but there are definitely some things we can all do to protect our peace.
Some are listed below :)
☮ Say no when you don’t want to do something — Wether it be plans with friends, going out with a boy, etc. Saying no can sometimes be hard. If something doesn’t sound appealing to you, be okay with putting your foot down and saying no.
☮ Stand up for yourself — When somebody does something that isn’t right, or wrongs you in any way, it’s completely fine to put your foot down and stand up for not only what you believe, but for your own happiness.
☮ Don’t be afraid to walk away — This one is a bit tricky, especially in long-term relationships or friendships, but we have a separate blog post about knowing your worth. If something is not serving you or if somebody isn’t treating you with respect, don’t be afraid to walk away and seek what’s best for you.
☮ Maintain a balance — As Dr. Suess and my Dad always say, “Life is a great balancing act.” Make sure that you are working towards things you are passionate about, while also leaving time to exercise, take care of yourself, see friends and family, etc.
☮ Listen to podcasts or discover music you love — This is literally my favorite thing to do! Listening to good music puts me in such a good mood and makes me feel more at peace.
Just like self-love, achieving true inner peace is extremely difficult, but if we all put in the work we can get one step closer every single day.
