Our Top 10 Favorite Reads
- Mia Sugimoto ♡
I am a reader– I love the smell of a Barnes and Noble and the feel of the pages on my fingers. I sound like a nerd, but like music, reading is freaking magical. I have read so many books that the characters have shaped me into who I am today. If this list gets you into reading or makes you pick up a book you haven’t touched in 3 years, I have done my job.

1.) Looking For Alaska by John Green
I have to start with this book, as I can’t shut up about it. Looking For Alaska is John Green’s first book, and in my opinion, his best. I first picked up this book in 8th grade, and I think I matured 3 years when I did. With mature topics, loving characters, and a little bit of mystery, Looking For Alaska is my perfect book. I have read and given my copy to friends so many times, that the pages are starting to fall off.
2.) Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephan Chbosky
This was one of the first books I read during my freshmen year. It was the book that got me into journaling and reading more in general. The end absolutely broke me, I was crying so hard my parents came into my room and asked what was wrong. Perks of Being a Wallflower is beautifully written, and one of the most eye-opening books on this list.
3.) To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
I can’t explain to you how obsessed I was with this series. In every book, I felt like I was hanging out with Lara Jean and scrapbooking in her room. Jenny Han easily became one of my favorite authors, and I started reading The Summer I Turned Pretty. I can’t say that I’m happy the show got popular when I read the books since 7th grade, but I sure am proud of Jenny Han for bringing it to life.
4.) 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I finish most books when I am stuck in the airport. I started 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo inside the JFK Airport and finished it there as well. I don’t think I even moved. I was so captured by Evelyn and her journey, I could not put the book down. This book truly put me in an alternate reality, and I recommend reading it. If you want to read and don’t know where to start, please start with this one.
5.) Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton
Everyone who’s reading this and who is on Girlhood right now, GO READ THIS BOOK! If you love the concept of Girlhood, you will adore this book. Dolly Alderton managed to make a memoir that perfectly encapsulates the experience of being a girl. It was drama-filled, light-hearted, and simply a pleasure to read!
6.) Strange the Dreamer by Lani Taylor
Unlike Sophia, who is literally publishing a fantasy book, I am not a big fan of the Fantasy genre. I like romance and reality. However, this book was a game-changer for romance novel fans. The plot was unique, and the setting was amazing. Strange the Dreamer had me reading at the dinner table and every social event.
7.) Verity by Colleen Hoover
I know, when you read the name “Collen Hoover” you automatically think of Tik Tok. And this book has everyone raving but for a reason. I remember reading this book with my mouth dropped 80% of the time. This book stands out from the other Colleen Hoover books and is worth reading. I recommended it to Sophia, and when we went camping, she was reading it the whole time ;).
8.) Love & Other Words by Christina Lauren
The first book I read by Christina Lauren was Unhoneymooners. I found myself laughing at it, which doesn’t happen often when I read, and decided to look into her more. I picked up Love & Other Words, and I fell in love with it. It is the cutest romance novel and got me swinging my legs up and down while flipping through the pages.
9.) Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Let's go readers, this is the second Taylor Jenkins Reid book on this blog! Daisy Jones and the Six is similar to 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo but about a band instead of a Hollywood actor. The band felt realistic, as the book included “interviews” of the characters. It was a great book that showed readers the realistic truth of popular bands.
10.) The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
I’m going to make this summary/recommendation very bland as you want to go into this book without knowing anything. All I have to say is that a classmate of mine spoiled it for me. I was furious, and I still am.
