balancing everything at once
Summer has always been my favorite season.
Would you like to know the main reason? It’s because it’s less stressful. There is no weight on your shoulders from the sport you’ve played since 5 years old, or forgetting about an assignment that’s due at 11:59 that night. And then once summer ends and school hits, all of a sudden you are balancing everything at once. Here are some tips when you feel like you’re a Jenga building that is about to fall.
1. Take a deep breath.
My AP Stats teacher does “mindful minutes” in her class. Even though I try not to laugh as she talks during the period, I’ve started to use my own “mindful minute” at home. Whenever I’m stressed or anxious, I take a minute to breathe and close my eyes. That way I can think clearly after.
2. Organize your schedule
Using a calendar or a to-do list is extremely helpful. I use the app “Notion” to organize my thoughts, track my reading, my calendar, and dates. Notion is the best. It helps me get my sh** together.
3. Get a little sweet treat
Whether it be Starbucks or ice cream, sweet treats make everything better. I feel like having a sweet treat is a reward – A reward for my progress, and for dealing with my stress. It gives a sense that everything will be okay in the future.
4. Clean your room
I have to say, I clean my room every blue moon. And when I do, I am usually stressed AF. I haven’t researched it, but I bet cleaning releases stress in some scientific-chemical way. And it’s also nice to come back to a room that isn’t just piles of clothes after a long day.
5. Take an everything shower
After I take an everything shower, I feel like I can save the world. Washing your hair and bathing is just so relaxing. Even though it’s hard to initially get off TikTok and go in the shower, you don’t want to get out of it when you fully submerge into the water.
Just a reminder: Stress is hard. Balancing everything is hard. However, girls can do anything and everything when they put their mind to it. I love you.
