I always talk about how much I dread summer coming to an end. Watching the leaves fall from the trees and litter the streets before turning a sunset-dipped shade reminds me that everything is fleeting: including the bliss of sun, midnight swims, and bonfires with friends.
I love summer, but I also really love fall, and as I’ve grown and become better at shifting my mindset, I’ve started to like it more and more. Watching Gilmore Girls, spending hours on school work in cute coffee shops, and wearing jeans, knit sweaters, and Doc Martins is also pretty cool.
Along with this, though, are the songs I start to listen to. I feel like what I enjoy music-wise changes so much as the weather becomes cooler, so here are some of my fall favorites :)
I went to a TV girl concert with Mia a little over a year ago and it was SO GOOD. I love Jordana and this feature with TV girl is literally perfect. It truly sounds like summer coming to an end and it makes me want to get up and dance. Please listen, you won’t regret it, trust.
This entire album by Steve Lacy is great, especially for when you're studying at a coffee shop somewhere downtown, but this song in particular is super underrated. The guitar is so great, and it makes me feel happy.
THIS SONG IS SO UNBELIABELY UNDERRATED. The perfect chill study song, and its literally so cute. I love the beat so much and I’ve put all of my friends on it. Every time I get aux, I play this and everyone always asks me for the name of it; it’s that good, I promise.
I recently rediscovered this song, and I’ve been listening to it nonstop. It’s so good dude. It sounds like something from a coming-of-age movie, and I always picture riding my bike down a super long road in a European country with autumn leaves in heaps along the side of the street. I put everyone on this song too.
I listened to this song a lot in August and it really reminds me of summer coming to an end. Led Zeppelin is amazing and his voice completely embodies this melancholy feeling.
I listen to the entire Frank Ocean Channel Orange album a lot during summer, and End is the last song in it. The first minute of the song literally feels like I’m floating. It’s amazing, and it’s also so overlooked. “The truth is obsolete” is one of my favorite song quotes of all time; I literally wrote an entire 3 page journal entry on just those four words. Frank Ocean is increadible.
Mia played this song in the car a few weeks ago and I re-fell in love with it. It’s so good and reminds me of my longing for summer to stay. Post Malone’s music is great, but this song is definitely my favorite of his and every time I’ve played this in the car since, all of my friends are always like, “Dude I forgot about this song, I need to add this right now.” SO GOOD.
