I’m unhappy with how things in my life are going, what do I do?

First of all, I’d just like to say, I’ve been there. Your mother, father, best friend and neighbor have been there. This is as common a human experience as any other. You are far from alone even if the feeling is extreme. In my own life, I was diagnosed with depressive disorder and anxiety disorder in 2013, these are the things I’ve learned that have helped me.

The number one thing is the most difficult lesson to come to terms with yet the most important.

Unless you want to help yourself nothing will get better. It’s something I fought with for years. Once I accepted it I was willing to change.You find yourself waking up late, not brushing your teeth, eating unfulfilling food, avoiding responsibilities and scrolling endlessly on social media. You know you want to do better but can’t find the will to just get up and do it. Believe me, shaming yourself just makes it worse.Don’t be hard on yourself, life already is.Start small. Even if you don’t jump out of bed, open your curtains when you wake up. Then before you shower, leave your toothbrush and toothpaste out to remind you. Find something easy you enjoy eating, and set yourself a task with a reminder, such as you can’t open tiktok unless you do 20 minutes of homework or reading. It’s about starting with something easy, doing it repeatedly until you can add something else.

You are a long term project worth working on, remember that.
