On the Bright Side
When I was little, my dad always used to ask me if I was a “half-glass full” or “half-glass empty” kind of girl. Not knowing what he meant (because I was probably 10) I went with saying, “Half-glass empty.” Without saying a word, my dad would shake his head.
Later on in life, I realized what he meant. The saying stuck with me, and I couldn’t help but wonder if I was viewing life “half-glass empty.”
When I take my test, do I automatically think I am going to fail? When something goes wrong, do I believe the world is going to end?
The younger me would check those off the list. But me now? I’m on the other side.
When you start looking at the brighter side of a situation, your thoughts become clearer. You can finally take a deep breath of air and relax – Wrong actions turn into lessons. Failure turns into improvement.
When you look at life from an optimistic standpoint, you will see your perspective shift right in front of you. You’ll realize you have more satisfaction in your emotional and physical well-being and have become more resilient in difficult situations.
Life itself is the glass, you just have to determine whether it’s half full or half empty.
There’s no right answer, just two different paths to choose from: a harder route or an easier one.
